Article: Causes of Bad Play Written by: hockeyguy

As you may know I have been doing a microstakes bankroll challenge to try to demonstrate how to grow an initial deposit of $100 to a more substantial amount and to step up levels from 10 nl to 25nl to 50 nl.

  • This article is so true. The bottom line is we just can't be in a rush to win at poker. I tell that to myself all the time and yet in the end, it is one of my biggest faults. I am so glad you got the family issues worked out. At the end of the day there is absolutely nothing more important than family. Not even poker:)

  • Nice article HockeyGuy! Im totally with u. There is a reason I have a long term plan for my poker. I have my gf and my 2 year old daughter. When there is argue between me and my gf I play worse. SO my guess is that poker goes better for me when I give my familly more time. As filobetto said above, "can't be in a rush to win at poker". Calm down and have a good life without poker and THEN put good positive energy into poker with no stress about it. No thinking that your life is going to be good just from u playing poker. As a matter of fact I was in that mood 5-6 years ago and had a bankroll of about 3000$ and played at 100$ NL. BUT, I was unstable in my mind. I did put in like 1000$ and played them up. I did went back to 1000$ again from that 3000$ and decided to play again some day in the future when I was more calm and focused. Today Im there. And Im also like 100 times more skilled. There were way to many unstable things in my life at that point and I was just chasing the money. The 50$ I did put in on 1th of July 2009 still holds and I have also got the money out one time and restarted my bankroll from 50$ again. I dont think I ever put in more money to poker. This is my bankroll for life.
