Flopped a Royal Fush!

Postby dtiffin » Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:36 pm

When playing on saturday night I flopped a royal flush. I didn't get payed of as much as I would of liked. Mostly because I pushed the river. In hindsight, I think I should have value bet the river for what hand I thought he was holding, or check raised if he bet. I guess this is another good learning experience.
I did manage to control my urge to snap call his raises, so I didn't goof up totally.

Believe it or not, a couple hands later I pick up KK UTG, I get 3 bet by the same guy. I push and he shows the one hand I didn't want to see...AA...So, I lost more on that hand then I won on the royal flush. What a crazy game this is sometimes.

Nice hand!

But definitely check-raise the flop. Build the pot and get max value and hopefully get all in against his two-pair+ before another heart or Ace or Ten come on the turn/river.

Your line screams monster on the river :P

Thanks for advice Tim, I'll remember it for any monster I flop. I guess if the guy folds to the check raise I wasn't going to get much out of him anyway. I'm still learning not to do these obvious moves, I felt a bit like the dear in the headlights when it hit, and wasn't sure what to do. Question though...would you play it the same if the guy was a nit? Also, what size would you reccomend for the check raise relative to his raise?
