Straights nightmare!!

Postby madsjuster » Wed Oct 05, 2011 2:40 pm

Im having the worst poker day like ever!!

Im down 75$ on 10nl tables because of something like 5-6 straights hitting me on 2 pairs, sets and all decent hands. And worst of all they werent even readable straights. All big gappers!
And got beaten with set of queens by set of aces. This is so sick!

I know i should have moved down stakes before, but im down to 25$ total on my bankroll and really dont know how to proceed, cause i dont want to deposit again.

Head down to the $4 tables for a while and remember, when someone calls, calls, then pushes, be very wary. They chase their straight/flush draws and push when they hit and fold when they miss the river.

Thanks for the tip.

I did go down playing 4 tables of 4NL to try and rebuild, i dipped to 20$ but managed to steadily build up to about 42$ over the last couple of days.
I feel im getting better every session, and your tip about the straight/flush chasers really helped me. I actually put some players on exact hands a few times.

Also i decided to be very strict with my bankroll, as i might have been taking som chances on that point.

Im gonna go with the rule of 5% of bankroll in cashgames buyin, and about 2% in MTT. Read that Ferguson uses about the same numbers.
Although i kinda have to play a little underrolled at the micros, as im buying in with 16$ at a time playing 4 tables with a 40$ bankroll.

But as ive been consistently building (slowly though) i think im good, but i will wait to move up 10NL until i have about 200$. Playing 1 table again, and taking it from there.
