So I’ve played about 20.000 hands in the past 7 days. I’ve been grindin’ a lot of hands since I came back from my vacation. I am pretty happy with how things are going right now. I’m playing a lot of hands, it’s not going really bad. I am planning most my sessions for the week, and try to keep myself to play at those times I planned them on. This way when I am not playing poker, my life isn’t consumed by it. Of course I take time to analyze my handhistories, read forums and watch pokervidz. But when I am not improving my game or playing, I have spare time! Which I spent going to the gym, playing Paintball and watching series (season 5 of 24 right now) and spending time with my friends, girlfriend and dog. The first few months when I started going pro my  life was really consumed by poker. I’d play online a lot of afternoons and visit life games in the evening.  When I wasn’t playing I was looking for a live game or I was starting up my laptop to play some hands online. This was probably very frustrating for my girlfriend, because I wasn’t spending much time with her. But now I play more hands a week and have more spare time! So I am pretty happy with my poker life and my private life J

Because I’ve been playing a lot of hands the past few weeks, my arm starts to hurt after a few thousand hands a day. I try to stretch before and after sessions, but I can feel it is pretty sensitive all the time. Even after I take a break of 2 days, it is still pretty sensitive. So I am not sure what I can do about this. I’m going to ask some trainer at my gym if I can exercise my lower arm to make it stronger. I am hoping he can help me out, I don’t want to be stuck with RSI and become a full time life poker player. Spending all those hours away from home. So this kind of worries me at the moment.

The WCOOP started on stars, and I might be tempted to play 1 or 2 tournaments. I have to think about this though, because I don’t want to play tournaments long nights and sleep in late. This will effect my handrate on the cashgames. So I am hoping I can find some tournaments which start at a European friendly time J

My vid just came online, I hope you enjoy watching it! You can PM me with feedback and I would appreciate that!

Also I know I said I would try to analyze a hand every blog, but I don’t really have the time for it now. So I apologize if you were looking forward to that.

  • Just a suggestion have u tried say sitting out for 5 mins after a certain period of time just to walk around the house or room and stretch off a little, it might make a difference after long periods of time.

  • Hi Mort interesting Blog. I dont play nearly as much poker as you but my job as a London taxi driver does involve very long periods of sitting in the same place and position for many hours. I have trained (physical and Krav Maga) for a number of years you may well find a lot of the pain stems fron your upper back and shoulders. I would really recommend trying to obtain some light 1 kilo 'indian clubs' you can google them to find out more. They really are excellent for improving forearm strength and loosening the neck and shoulders. Hope this helps good luck fairway8

  • I imagine that your arm is extended and maybe slightly elevated while constantly holding the mouse? Try just putting your arm down on your lap or something occasionally between hands. (Hard to do while multitablingI) I know, but it helps me a little. Also, I enjoyed your video. I really like how you explain your thinking about the situation at hand. The volume was a bit low though. I had it turned up and still had a hard time hearing some of what you where saying. Maybe it's my PC?
