looks like you read him corrctly as willing to overplay less than premium holdings and just ended up on the unlucky end as a 65/35 fave (per poker stove). Annoying/aggravating, but thats poker

This early in the tournament, I think I would flat call the 4x raise rather than shipping. Its a huge overship at this stage. I think if you had flatted the preflop raise, the KQ would have had no choice but to muck on the flop and you may have got action from one of the early pos limpers who felt that they had the best hand on what seems like a pretty dry flop for A9 or 88 etc type of hands.

Another option would have been to re-raise to around 500 or so and then jam the flop. Again, I think you would likely get a call from the guy with KQ seeing as this is only a $1 MTT but I highly doubt he would have called your flop shove.

In summary, shoving all of your chips in over a 4x raise with stacks so deep isnt optimal or necessary in this situation (unless your playing a rebuy tournament).
