turn 8d

villain bets $4.05 (stack $1.75)

what would you do? I don't like my preflop raise here because of the buttons stack size.
maybe i should have checked in the big blind and maybe put in a big check raise on that flop?
this flop hits his range pretty hard so i wasnt happy playing for his stack here, especially after horrible turn card.
I'll tell you his hand after ppl give me some hand evaluation if you would please. see if you read it like i did.

i am ok with a turn push or chk raise after turn he only has 1.76 behind
if he hit the str8 he is calling or betting so it doesnt matter
if he has a draw or 2pair he aint folding and will probably bet if you check since he is laggy
so i dont think it matters too much what you do, i think his money is going in
so should yours go in too?

flop 567
what hands does the 8 really help?
44 88, 99, 9T, 97, 96, 45, A8, T8, J8, K9, Q9 i think you can rule out 49

what hands does the 8 not help ie beat you that he would call flop pot bet
22 33 56, 67, 58, 78 TT, 2 overcards, A4 A5 A6 he could have flopped a pair w/ 2 diamonds and picked a turn draw, you dont get 69% vpip w/o playing any 2 suited cards and chasing backdoor draws
Given his pfr i wouldnt expect JJ+ to show up too often although this is the type of yahoo to sloplay JJ QQ KK AA in this situation

i think it is about 50/50 you are beat, but you are getting about 2/1 so i dont think you can fold
if you are beat you still have 10 outs unless he has 66 77 88 which is just a cooler, i would have expected 66 77 to get it in on the flop or at leaast min raise given his stack size

as to the pfr vs his stack size, i think it is fine, he has 3/4 stack so he isnt neccessarily in fold or push
mode like if he had less than 1/2 stack

thanks for that hockeyguy..the stack size should have made the decision for me.
unfortunately about 3-4 bad beats in space of about half hour had tilted me and made me see monsters
in the closet!
guy showed a pure bluff and i took a break for an hour..came back to 2 suck outs then decided to call it a day for the rest of the eve.
i remember one time when i loved poker...tons to work on!
