inducing a shove ex hands

Postby hockeyguy » Sun May 23, 2010 11:40 am

i thought it might be useful to post some hands that illustrate some of the concepts and ideas that have commonly come up in the microstakes videos

i was playing some 25nl at stars to build up my tiny bankroll and thought these examples might be helpful
it doesnt always work out this perfect, but these are representative of good situations to induce bluffs

example 1
shows 3 betting with what is very likely the best hand
defend your blind aggressively
the rare slowplay situation
creating a situation where opponent can overplay their hand

notice what the guy had, and yes on the turn he instashoved
obviously im calling no matter, but the point is the read if i had a weaker hand
i typically like to be able to beat the singleton card on the flop

in this ex qqj, i like to be better than a pr of jj since that is a common play
ex if it was qq7, i will typically call if i can beat 77

fyi, i had 3 bet the hand right before this one in the BB w/ JJ as well, geting Button PFR and SB caller to fold

notice this hand
dry flop, no draws vs short stack so no need to force action w/ top pr AA, if i had top pr QQ or less i would c bet
if i cbet, will mostly fold out worse hands
i want to give him chance to spew when i have a hand that can very rarey be sucked out on

by being patient got 17 more big blinds than a cbet

also his shove is horrible i wont call with worse, so no value can be gained

sometimes i will run into a bigger A, or a split, but mostly just bad bluffs

hopefully these examples are helpful to demonstate the concepts
i would be interested in feedback
