Really good information guys!

I guess my current preflop play on 30$nl is pretty good. Especially if I compare to my postflop. Thats why I now will focus alot on postflop play, double barrel, tripple barrel, getting out of bad situations. Thanks for information HockeyGuy/Erik, it has strengthen my practice plans and my thoughts around them. :)

thanks for your thoughts Hockeyguy,

one thing I dont really understand is when you say:

'Almost all of the light 3 bets at 50nl or lower come from tags defending vs loose stealers or very LAGGY/maniac types or short stackers. Each of these are pretty easy to deal with'.

Which of the light 3 bettors are the ones that give you mediocre results with 4betting? Arent that the tags? Because they can 5bet or play strong postflop? And what about the maniacs? I just think I didnt understand you right.

Today I tried to 4bet an agressive tag. I dont have many hands but Ive seen him 3bet 26% after 60 hands or so. I tried the 4bet with ATs. He shoved and I had to fold. The second time I had AKs, but he folded to my 4bet. I would have called the push there.

Also one more interesting thing on the topic of calling a 3bet:

I recently rewatched Atta's video 40. At around 17min he calls a 3bet with AJ0 against a player who he identifies as loose, fooling around. The flop is dry and Atta barrels his opponent out of the hand on the turn. I suppose calling a 3bet can be good play in spots like this, especially if you have the skills and confidence to play it postflop. I think for now I will play a little more careful.

Cheers!

i was specifically 4 betting vs a non nitty taggish player that had 3 bet vs a loose player. I was trying to catch the taggy player 3 betting light- i had very poor resluts. Same thing if a loose button raisesd and a taggy sb 3 bet, i again had very poor results 4 betting trying to catch the the bettor w/ a hand that could not continues

i had trouble w/ my 4bet size vs stacks left behind and getting myself committed to a shove while at the same time forcing almost no folds. Maybe i just had poor luck and kept running into big hands which i guess shouldnt be a huge surprise as i expect this to be a thinner value situation. At any rate my recent results in these situations have reduced my enthusiasm to get too creative in these type situations for now. I think i can find more value in other situations for now.

just gotta be careful when you dont have many stats as they can be skewed pretty far from players true style in the short run

i think this is a case of a "value call", since he is loose and so he has a wide range with a large portion that he will likely fold to a 3 bet including many hands that you want to play a flop against w/ AJ, for instance A2-AT, KJ QJ JT. While if he woke up with a big hand that has AJ in bad shape he willl call or 4 bet putting AJ in a horrible spot. Thusly more value can be gained at less risk by calling w/ AJ vs a loose raiser in some situations. Also you can outplay many of these loose players postflop depending on their style

hope this clarifies
