micro cash PF reraise Question

Postby buggy » Sun Oct 17, 2010 6:24 am

Hi guys!

I have a question relating to reraises. I play full ring and often find myself being reraised from the blinds when in LP.

What is the best line of thinking in this spot with a marginal hand?

hi buggy

it depends on the opponent and what your definition of marginal hand is and if the same opponent is doing it repeadedly to you

stats hud can help alot to shed light on opponent style
Typically, i keep raising them, but tighten up a bit until i have a better read, so i will fold weaker hands (T8s, J9o etc) to a 3 bet. However, being in position does allow you to make a call w/ hands like KJs and reevalueate on the flop and let your positional advantage (Given the situation it is unlikely opponents range is just premium type hands like JJ+ AQ+) work to your advantage.

For instance

did flop hit you
did it hit his range
does opponent cbet a lot?
did he bet
much did he bet

the tighter hands also lets you 4 bet him with more confidence based on your hand and read of his range

hope this helps

Thanks HG!

I haven't used any stats or huds in my game before (probably why I'm barely a break even player).
What is the best one to use?

I'll also keep an eye on my opponents. Generally, it's the tighter guys and they always follow up with a 3/4 to pot size flop bet.

as far as stats programs i really like holdem manager
it does seem to have some installation issue for some people
but its easy to use and has great functionality. It will pay for
itself pretty quickly

as for the tighter opponents tend to defend with a raise,
most of the time they will fold so over the long run
it is profitable to raise them on a consistent basis
with a pretty wide range of hands. When they defend
w/ a 3 bet it is typically a pocket pair, a Big Ace,
or suited paint like KQs. So you should have a pretty
good idea if flop hits them and you have the advantage of
position which lets you get more value when you are best
and lose less when you are weak, AND steal pots when they
show weakness.
