Poker stat tracking software?

Postby tc8008 » Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:12 pm

Hi, I have watched many of the videos and they all are great, they have really improved my play.

I have seen different stats tracking software being used and before I buy one I would like your recommendations on which one is generally accepted as the best one(s).

I am playing the micro stakes .05/.10 at PokerStars and I've become comfortable winning at that level mainly due to your excellent videos. I'd like to go to the next level but I want a great stat program before I do.

Any help is appriciated.

Thanks in advance.

I tried PT3 for their trial period. It had some gliches that I had a hard time getting worked out. It seems though, that it is much the same as Holdem Manager which I now have. The thing that set Holdem Manager apart for me was the support element. I had a problem when I first installed it and within 24Hrs they had me up and running.

Holdem Manager also has some very nice features that I think PT# does not have. They have a leak buster built into it including a series of 8 articles to take you through it and guide you in analyzing your stats etc.

I use it on 2 different sites and it works great on both.

Over all though, I think the main difference for me was the support I got when I need help.

good point on support,
i had a lot of Vista related issues when i installed HM, HM support did a remote link to my computer and fixed all the issue, i would probably still be messing with it if the HM support hadnt been so helpful

Thanks everyone.

I tried to install HM twice with no success, the PostgreSQL software has turned into a nightmare for me, even though I already have it installed for PokerTracker3..hmmm.

After my second try somehow PostgreSQL created a new user account on my computer that is password protected which I didn't like at all :(
It also messed up and turned off my firewall's anti-spyware softare and I can not get it fixed... grrrrrrr.

I have Vista so I guess I'll have to try hockeyguy's solution and contact HM support do it for me. Wish me luck.

I am not really wanting to uninstall my firewall and virus software to get the program to work, again since I didn't have to do it before for PT3. I don't understand the problem since I do still have PostgreSQL 8.3 still installed on my computer.

Again, thanks to everyone that replied and at least I know I'm not the only one that has/had a problem getting it installed.

Good luck and may you be the giver of bad beats rather than the reciever!

i do suggest contacting HM, because vista is such a mess, when i installed hm on second computer all i had to do was disabled user account controls
UAC and boom it ran. The password deal with sql is a onetime thing, i just set up new database per hm FAQs and all went well. but the vista thing is a mystery to me

gl hope it gets sorted out for you soon

Yes - definitely just contact HEM support, they are very solid and should be able to help you get PostgresSQL running properly with Vista.

i tried poker edge 3 or 4 years ago, my memory says it was more of a datamining type thing that worked with my old pokerace HUD, at least back then. i just remember i didnt use it long as it didnt seem to be an "edge"
it may have changed since then, but thats what i know/knew about PE
