Rush Poker on Full-tilt

Postby Col-F » Tue Jan 19, 2010 12:36 pm

Hello to all Outstanding Poker Trainers and Players!

I just played 25 mins of the new 'Rush Poker' on Fulltilt and I'm very interested to hear what Tim and the other trainers or players here thoughts are on it!?

Basically as soon as you fold a hand it moves you to another table where another hand begins straight away.. there is literally no delay, and it seems to calculate how many times each player was in sb/bb in order to determine positioning. There is also a 'Quickfold' button to move before its your turn to act.. speeding things up even more.. It obviously dosen't fold out of turn though.

I think it seems to be for grinders and shortstacks waiting to push, and I can see lots of difficulties getting any form of reads on players.. but it definately has brought a new dimension to online poker... and I had a profitable session which adds to the hype!

Look foward to hearing what people think.. Oh yeah and loving this site..

never heard of it till now,
my first impression is that it is catnip for action junkies and maniacs giving the instanewhand no reads environment
i would imagine a tag style would work quite well if you can handle some extra variation

gl and be careful

I think it's an interesting idea by Full Tilt - I wonder if it will catch on at other sites or will just remain a novelty. I do like the concept though - although it takes away from a fundamental aspect of poker which is developing reads on your opponents and adjusting to their play. I'd imagine that it will lessen the edge of good players since they can't rely on reads.

I'm curious whether this will generate more action from the maniac players, or whether they'll fold a little bit more since they can instantly move onto a new hand.

I'm not sure it'll really catch on at higher stakes since reads are so important. If I'm not mistaken it only goes up to $0.25/0.50 games right now.

Thanks for the reply Tim, I think thats spot on.

From what I have seen so far the speed at which you can receive a new hand has affected the speed of play, and there seems to be way more pushing and very little time spent thinking or analysing flop texture.. I think if you can be patient and as hockyguy mentioned, deal with some more variance, it could be a profitable alternative session to include in your game..

Maybe it really is a good idea. But it seems like it heads in a direction opposite of what poker really is meant to be. Might as well go to a casino and dump dollars in a slot machine. It is probably a good way to filter some of the luck/ adrenline junkies off the regular poker tables though. I was playing there the other evening and there was much less of the 20bb buy in players I so commonly see there.

I enjoy playing more when my opponents are buying in at the max and there is a full stack in any direction I look.
