stay away form .02/04?

Postby schwally » Sat Apr 23, 2011 10:36 am

I am trying to practice good bankroll management. Because I only had $50 to deposit I started at .02/.04 figuring I would slowly build that $50 to $150 to move up to .05/.10. I am in no hurry because I figure I can learn alot in the process. Everything was going fine, I had built it to $75 until the las two days. In the last two days I have run into 3 guys who have taken my bankroll back down to $55. These 3 guys all have the same caracteristics. They are in almost every pot. vpip's of 55/65, never preflop raise, and call me all the way down. My AK will lose to their 5 2 cause they hit a 2 on the flop, My KK wil lose to their 9 10s cause they hit the flush, and on and on. What do I do to combat this? I never give them odds to draw, they just wont lay down. Is it any better at .05/.10? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks!

While losing to these guys is incredibly frustrating, you have to remember that they are the easiest sources of money for you.

If they are always calling you down, just wait to hit a hand against them. They will pay you off so often since they can't fold any pair/draw.

In the long run they won't suck out on you, you just are in a bit of a downswing it seems like.

These guys are also at every stake, even at the high limits. I'd imagine they get more and more rare as you move up though.

cudaflu hit the nail on the head
these players are at all levels, but much more at micros since it is a losing style they need a better day job to pplay higher stakes They can be the most frustrating to play against when they are hitting hands,BUT THEY ARE A HUGE SOURCE OF PROFIT IN THE LONG RUN IF YOU ARE PATIENT.

So relax, be patient, make peace w/ the knowledge they will suck out sometimes and

value bet your made hands, any second pair or better at the minimum especially in position

try to play more hands in position vs them

do not semibluff std 9-12 out draws vs them, a lot of your orofit is fold equity against players that can muck, wait until you hit draw and punish them since they wont fold

you will beat them in the long run

Hey schwally!

I started at those low limits aswell. I have been up to 25/50NL tables but have cashed out some of it and restarted a second bankroll. Atm I have a hard time going up to the 10NL tables. Its really frustrating. But I know, I will get there if Im just patient and doing just what Cudaflu and HockeyGuy just told u.

GL! And let us know about your progress.

not a great start to rebuilding. Got it all in preflop with AA only to see the KK that called hit another K on the flop. Back to grinding! Thanks for all the encouragement guys!

I find the same thing at these limits. You have the people who see every flop and only play when they flop well. It is tough to get beat by 86o when you hold a premium pair and lose to two pair. But it is possible to build a roll this way. I have done it, it just takes a looong time. :)

Just watch Hockeyguys Microlimit videos!

For your information my bankroll currently is 23€. Started at 30€. And started the bankroll 12 April. :D

And this is only for experiemental purpose, I have another bankroll of about 300€. So I could easily change stake up from those 4€NL tables. But I see this as a fun thing Im just going to make.
I was really thinking I would move away from the 4€ fast! But seems like I have too be here for a while!

Good Luck!
