Stuck Bankroll

Postby dragon111 » Sat Aug 14, 2010 4:41 am

Ok so for the past month or so I have been stuck on my bankroll. I break a certain amount, and fall down again, then back up , then back down....

For some reason not being able to continue again to climb up and up....

It sucks cause I grind it out for about a week then loss it all in one day. I don't have Winning Tilt (Check out Article HERE How Avoid Tilt and Exploit..)

Im on a poker flat line... Any Suggestions ??

It happens man, its a big thing of poker these break even stretches. Take a look at my sharkscope and you'll see for the past 5 weeks or so my overall profit from sngs has been around $40k constantly and I'm just struggling to get over that point.

It could be worse though, it could be a losing streak right?

The bankroll goes up and down. If your running bad and still breaking even, then it's a good thing. I suggest if you like how you've been playing, then don't worry too much about the bankroll. Things will start rolling your way soon enough.

If it's something to do with how you've been playing then you still have time to fix it:)

Yes better to be flat then down.

I think I am going to try to analyze more when I take a dive , where I am back to even again. Like I said I grin it up and then dump it down quick.

Also good to know not alone - Maybe this topic would be a good article ?

Hi there dragon,
This part got me thinking a bit.

It sucks cause I grind it out for about a week then loss it all in one day. I don't have Winning Tilt (Check out Article HERE How Avoid Tilt and Exploit..)
It sounds to me you just need to recognize a sour day, and realize it a little quicker. Perhaps you can adapt a similar bankroll management as a slots or blacjack player would use. If you've already won (from earlier in the week as you say) then preplan to never lose more than 25% in 1 sitting (or night of playing).
Come back another day, forget about the loss and believe you will get it back plus maybe a little more.

I have been on the up (at small stakes) for a few weeks. But I've only been playing infrequently because of how busy I've been and a few other things. Now, last night I hit a dry spell. I loaded a 1 table SitnGo, got knocked out early. Loaded up another, got knocked out again. Every pot I got into people were hitting flops against me. After 4 tries I gave up because sometimes, everything you try to do just turns out wrong. You think someone is bluffin....ooops wrong! You raise with AK..Cbet and get reraised!....You call down your medium strength hand and they got better. Ah yes, frustrating....but then it goes the other way (someday soon hopefully) and you feel powerful again. They call you down with weak holdings...you flop the nuts against a guy that likes to bluff...most of your Cbets go through. etc...etc..

So I guess I'm saying next time you feel frustrated, just say to yourself "Stop!" So stop playing and come back another day.

Sorry that was a bit long...But hope it helps

You are right, I do keep playing while down. But here is the thing most of the time I get back at even again.

But I will start to just STOP at certain amount. I don't really get frustrated, I figure I got the person's play down. But then find out, it's not my time yet... (It Happens)

Please don't worry about the length seemed maybe you needed to get something off your chest as well.
