table selection and running good

howdy all

i just thought i would share a thought on my recent results. I have been running very good over my xmas break which got me to thinking is it me, am i playing better(i am no question about it), but also am i doing something specific that is easy to repeat in the future. Again the answer is yes. I have for some reason changed the way i table select. In the past i haved looked for the highest vpip and pot size which a lot of the times got me on good tables, but sometimes not so good tables. Long story short since i been on break i have purposely looked for tables with 2 partial stacks even if the vpip was a big lower. I prefer 1/2 to 3/4 size stacks as they have enough worth winning but per Tim's read partial stack=BAD PLAYERS. The best tables i find have 3 partial stacks or 2 partial stacks and a short stack. This lets the bad players pass their chips around to each other until i get a hand AND that leaves only 2 other players trying to take the money from bad players and they may not be good players either. More bad players means lots of easy value AND fewer good players competing for bad players money which is the best of both worlds for you.

I concede i have taken few bad beats or coolers during my break, but with so many chips in the hands of bad players it has been quite easy to get my chips back plus many more when i did take a beat. I plan on using this strategy going forward until i have some reason to change.

i would be interested in others thoughts or experience in this regard

Hmm, thanks for the info hockeyguy very interesting. I always just went by VPIP but I'll be sure to look at stack sizes as well and tell you if I notice a difference in the easiness of the games.

Good luck at the tables!
