I fold preflop. Out of position with no hand. Completing the SB with those kind of hands is a leak IMO.

Cliff is exactly correct preflop,
the odds of spiking a straight on the flop is about 1/101.
The odds of flopping 2 pair is 1/50,
odds of flopping trips is 1/74

you will miss flop too much
not get enough action when you do hit
or get sucked out on when you hit

so these type situation w/ bad hands preflop are not typically profitable

Once you flop the nuts however, you cannot fold to his flop push
You have the nuts, you are a 66%(or more) favorite vs any hand the opponent except 3c6c or Ac3c

unfoftunately he filled up to beat your straight, but your call was correct.

hero - small blind

- i would fold preflop. but i dont play these limits.
- you should begin folding these junk hands. they hardly ever hit the flop
and are very hard to play post flop out of position.
- you lead out - great, he shovs.. great.. u have the nuts you call.

- how else can you play this hand?
- u got it in with the nuts.. you are dominated by 1 (3, 6 of clubs) hand and crush all others

*nods* thanks.

I'm trying to remember why I actually played that hand in the first place. I think the only reason was because i had been playing quite well and tight, got up to 250 big blinds in my stack and then for about 30 orbits I had no hands at all and i was looking abit nitty at around 11/11 or something and everytime I was raising everyone was folding, so I was looking to splash some cash cheaply to up my vpip a little and hopefully get some action with a looser image. Unfortunately this time I flopped the nuts.

I usually play around 11% from the SB unless I know i can steal from the BB. Around 8% from the big blind and 11% from early position, then loosen up as I near the button where I play around 26-30% unless there's two nits in the blinds I can steal from in which case I can get up to about 80% sometimes without being played back at and until they do start playing back with a 3bet or call.

Widge, I think you need to tighten up a little. People are calling a LOT at these stakes and you will get yourself in trouble with marginal hands. I find that the fish at the table are not paying that much attention to my image and will play the same whether I am 22/19 or 16/14. My stats will change depending on the play at the table and who is playing. A table full of reg TAGS I need to have an image but better to find another table. I like a mixed table with at least a couple of fish and want them on my right so I will have position most of the time.

Good luck
