Hi everyone,

Guess I should have checked in here a lot earlier. I have been a member for a few months and really enjoy it. I actually belonged to one of the more expensive and better known training sites but have learned more here. A special thanks to hockeyguy who is a great teacher with a very firm grasp of the game. His help and posts on different aspects of the micros is invaluable. I am looking forward to the upgrade as I feel this site has a lot to offer and the additional features will be welcome.

Thanks

Hi,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I just joined OutstandingPoker.com and the forum. I have been playing, scratch that, dabbling in poker for about 3 years. Mostly small stakes home games with buddies and some online play.

I play really poorly right now, I am on a steep learning curve and have discovered that I have to redefine my game in order to be profitable. I am very impressed so far with the videos and training advice, as well as the play-by-play on the forums of key hand examples. I get invited to a lot of home games because I think I am the *fish* or ATM as one of my buddies has dubbed me. I have to say, I watched the two sample videos and applied the tactics on uber-micro stakes (.01/.02) since my bankroll is in the crapper; for the first two nights, it was profitable, the next, not so much. Need to go back to the videos and review again.

How do you manage the people that just won't get off a pot when you know you have the best hand, then they hit the river and take it away? Very frustrating.

Looking forward to building my skills and learning to play profitable poker. Thanks again, and see you at the tables (micro) :D

Hi Pete:

Welcome to Outstanding Poker. My suggestion is that you watch the first ten vids by Atta and then spend a lot of time with Hockeyguys videos and discussions regarding the micro cash games. In my opinion he is the best teacher regarding these games anywhere.

Good Luck

thanks Cliff, working on video 3 right now, I have been following HG's Micro challenge too. Both have been very informative. Good news on the home game last night, I applied what I have observed in the first few video's last night, came up +$70 on a 80.00 buy in at the home game. Didn't seem like I could miss last night, don't think they new what hit them.

hi pete
i forget which video, one of my early ones, but we have all been down this path, i specifically discuss this issue, but you will need to get a stats program to really take advantage of my plan to deal w/ these type of annoying players

i use holdem manager which has a free 30 day trial and i think a cheaper 1/2 price version for micro 10nl and lower games- well worth it, the stats program pay for themselves many times over

welcome and congrats on home game win, its nice to turn the tables

Congratulations Chris,

I know how good that feels, but I offer a word of caution. My first 160 hands after joining had me up $70, then things went very bad for me, I almost lost my entire bankroll because of some bad decisions on my part, I have however, recovered about 60% of that now by doing exactly what I have been taught by the great team here, but it has taken me about 3000 hands to do it. Poker Tracker shows me that I am still a losing player right now, but things are going in the right direction, I am down about 70.00 in the last 40 days, BUT, my vs. Player stats are now showing me a profit of +35.00 (I am winning more than I am losing) as of today.

this is a fun process, I am learning, I am making mistakes, I am re-learning things to do and not to do and I will keep at it until my game clicks.

See you on the virtual felt...

hey pete tnx for the congrats, but i took a couple of hits after bein up bout 140 bucks after my last post, 2 really big pots that stacked me both times. 1st hand- 10/25 nl full tilt / hero- a 10 hearts on button villain 66 in bb i flop nut flush he flops set we both end up shippin, board pairs river -27 bucks 2nd hand same table hero- a k off in cut-off villain a8 off bb flop comes 3 a a turn- 7 river 8 really???? an 8??? on river come on!!! we both shipped on turn -38 bucks. i played as i always do TAG and was reraised all in..what can i do this game is frustrating me. This type of action is the norm for me. I routinely build my roll up like that only to suffer a couple of big hits and give it back..uhhhgggg help hockeyguy u mu hero  kidding sort of.. The only thing i can say is i am very determined to get on track and avoid speed-bumps and also get things right.. gl to u pete i wish u the best buddy. I am not giving up !!!!! i have been prayin for us all to the poker gods gl all juicyc

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself. My name is Kristijan, I'm 40 years old and I live in Sweden. I have played online poker for little more than a year now and mostly I've been a loosing player. Mostly I have played NL25 and NL50 cash games. I never planned to play poker until I got to know a now very good friend of mine who plays. He is a very good player and plays higher stakes from NL200 - NL1000 and he has taught me a lot and it has helped me loose less but not made me win so far. He plays GTO (Game Theory Optimal) which basically means you play your play with your lines in each hand and involves very little exploitation of other players. You don't adjust your play according to their play. So that is what he's been teaching me. That works for him since hi's been a winning player for about 4 years now but some how it does not work for me. Maybe I'm a slow learner but since I joined OP in April my game has improved a lot. So far I have seen all the videos, read all the material available and it's great stuff. Tim and Rob's videos are priceless for cash games and Matt's videos the same for MTT's and SnG's. It's so easy to understand everything and it's fun to watch and learn. Rob's $100 bankroll challange with the HH review is outstanding. Thanks to you all I have managed to turn my graph going up instead of down playing NL4 and NL10 so far and I have played some MTT's aswell with good results. For the past 2 weeks I have played 7 MTT's from which I have won 3 and came 2nd in one. These were all $150-200 Guaranteed w/Rb. Last night I played a $2000 Guaranteed w/Rb and came on 7th place. It was a $10+1 buy-in and I thought it was a little to rich for my game but since I was doing okay in the last couple of MTT's I thought I'd give it a try. It was a little tougher play than in the smaller tournaments but not that difficult. This is all thanks to Matt. And believe it or not, I have never won a MTT before. So I'm very excited about the future and with the launch of the new OP website and all it's only going to get better and better.

Thanks and Good Luck to all!!
