Do you call?

Postby filobetto » Fri Jul 03, 2009 3:58 pm

Just a poker question here. The scenario is;
You have QQ on the button. You are on a micro nl table 6 max. The entire table seems to want to limp. When it comes to you, you PFRx7. The BB calls, remainder limpers fold. The flop is 10h 8h 2. BB checks - you bet slightly less than pot. Turn hits a blank 5d. BB checks, you bet full pot. Now there is about $11 in pot. River hits K. BB bets $7. Is this an easy call or automatic fold?

The player on the BB played fish like for the past hour. You've seem them make some fool hardy plays. What do you do?

what kind of fool hardy plays? Does he call down with overcards? Does he only bet when he hits his overs/draws(passive).
Is he capable of betting missed draws here? Does he love to slowplay monsters like flopped sets etc

Any previous history o stats on the villain would help

I'm trying to remember now.... I think he would make moves with 2nd or 3r pair or just call along w overs. But it's funny because of you asking the questions about "fool hardy" I think the answer to my question is a little more clear. What actually happened was he called with K 10o called a long with top pr and sucked the river. I called because I felt there was enough in the pot. Was that the correct play by me?

you getting around 2.5 to 1 on your call so if you believe you have the best hand against villains range in this spot 30% of the time then you are correct to call.

you can use a program called pokerstove to do this its free and easy to use

Think about the types of hands he is betting for value and the types of hands he got to the river with that he'd bluff with. There are tons of draws that missed. If he's sitting on a hand that was top-pair on the flop (ie. JT), he's NOT betting that river. So he's betting a monster or air/missed draw on the river. I would definitely call the river because he can't be happy with that King unless he already had a monster. Sometimes he'll have K9hh or some stupid hand that hit the river, but not often enough that you should fold. Weak players bluff a missed draw here VERY often.
