Video 103- Excellent!

Postby raizr » Tue Jun 15, 2010 4:57 pm

Although I've watched a lot of great videos on this site this is definitely one of the best.

I really like that in addition to going into the psychology behind the way you played your hands that you showed the math involved as well. And I now understand how PokerStove and HoldEmManager can be integrated in the decision making process.

Thanks, Tim. I'm looking forward to seeing and learning more from the next videos in the series. Hope you post them soon.

I second everything raizr said.

I think most new players (and maybe not so new) vastly underestimate the value of position.

Thanks

ditto ditto ditto ditto ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i was watching one of Atta22's/Tim first 10 videos it looked so easy that I immediately went back and watched it again to try to figure out why( i have watched every video in the library at least 3 times and taken written notes on all of them-it takes work to improve and Attas videos are the best i have seen anywhere by far, so much info in each video you cant get it all at once) and i started counting the number of hands he played OOP and it was 1 or none, thats what it took to finally get the power of position into my thick head- in position = simple, oop = tricky. i have never forgot it since
After i got this simple concept into my head i tried an experiment, the only hands i would play oop for 2 sessions were AA KK QQ JJ AK and reraise them all, and 22-jj set mining when i had appropriate odds. The experiment confirmed the obvious. POSITION RULES, OUT OF POSITION DROOLS. I suggest everyone try it, it is quite illuminating.

i have said it before and will say it again- my improvement is due to the atta22 videos- no ifs, ands, or buts. I simply try to relate his info/concepts/strategies to the micros games as they helped me, as i remember how i struggled to beat the lower games until i started using the Atta22 way. I think i can relate to those in that same boat since i spent so long paddling it into the current so I just try to share how i used the Atta lessons to improve my game. Some people have a natural knack for explaining things and Tim is one of them, he would make an excellent teacher, but i dont think he wants to take the pay cut

Am I a neutral observer? not a chance Atta is the one that is responsible for my improvement, I am just happy to give credit where credit is due and thankful i stumbled across OP. I am also honored that Tim allows me to try to contribute to his site

Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely be putting out more videos related to microstakes in the near future, now that our new site is almost done. I've been spending a lot of time lately trying to get it launched so once it's released I can focus more on new content. I have a lot more footage from that session where I ran into some interesting spots so they should turn out alright. I'm glad they're useful!

Cheers,
Tim
