I am a relatively new poker player and am looking to improve my skills and eventually be able to supplement my income on a part time basis. I would also like to strengthen my live poker skills. I am quite strong at math but I don't have the experience yet to read other players and one of my biggest weaknesses is probably bet-sizing. I feel comfortable in the early phases of online games, mostly 9 player SnG's until now, but I am a little lost when I am down to the final 2 or 3 and the blinds and betting accelerate.

Successful Summer – Two more poker milestones reached

This is my 2nd blog and a follow-up to the May 2012 summary of my first ever cash in a major tournament, which was followed shortly after by another major cash.  Just for the record, I define a "Major" as any tournament with an entry fee of $100 or more.

Thank you Outstanding Poker!

I would like to thank Outstanding Poker for getting me started on the right path for my poker hobby!

A recent Carbon Poker Sunday $150,000 Guaranteed tournament had 1,423 entrants, 144th place was good for in-the-money and I was fortunate enough to finish 28th for a cash of $570.  My $109 entry was earned in an $11 satellite which made it even better.  I was eliminated when I shoved QQ vs AJ unsuited as a 71% favorite and my opponent flopped his ace.  I was in 13th
